Thought it’d be fun to see what the sisters look like at the same ages.

Today was so busy. I didn’t have time to take many pictures at all.

Sara drinking a bottle like a big girl was about as much as I could get.

So, I’d have to say, I think I cooked all day long.  Starting with…
Breakfast:

German pancakes filled with fresh strawberries, a squeeze from a lemon, topped with syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar (the secret to these is really the blender (http://www.thekysers.com/index.php/2007/05/23/dutch-babies/). I blended them for a good couple of minutes. And the sides really rose so high.

Scrambled eggs with avocado

Hashbrowns

Sausage from Trader Joe’s

Orange juice
Dinner was on the lighter side, and if you like fresh ingredients, and a really fresh meal then this could be a meal you’d like:
Lemon Chicken with Avocado Salsa (June issue of Martha Stewart Magazine pg. 172) It was amazing.

And to top it off with dessert, Raspberry Lime Breeze. (pg. 167) I will link to those last two recipies when they become available on Martha’s website. The smoothie was AMAZING. It was tart and sweet. Really delicious. And the chicken was the perfect top to the day (we had a heavy dinner last night and another heavy meal for breakfast. Something lite was in order). I’m sure you could prepare the salsa the day before (which takes a bit of preparation) leaving the avocado to add in at the last minute, and it would save you a lot of time the day of serving.

Sara was really cute today. You could just tell by her happy attitude all day that she was happy to be together as a family.  She always plays so nicely when we’re all together on Sunday.  She lastest the whole time in nursery at church today!!!  It was great to see how much she enjoyed it.  And when I went in to get her of course she had to walk me around and show me all that she had done in nursery that day.  She also tried a 100 Grand candybar today for the first time (it was a total hit) and the fiz from the top of a rootbear float (what the ward distributed to all of the fathers in the ward).  She didn’t really go for the fiz, but the chocolate was a hit!

Growing up, we used to go to the BEST breakfast place on special occasions, the Oak Table Cafe in Sequim, WA (www.oaktablecafe.com).  It still is one of the best places in my opinion.

The first time we ate there we remember hearing these bells coming from the kitchen, and seeing waitresses stride by with these giant pancakes with their sides turned up (we had already ordered).  I don’t remember how long it was before we returned to try their german pancakes, but they are out of this world and I don’t think I’ve ordered anything but that pancake since.

So, I found this recipe off of www.cooks.com and it is AWESOME!  It’s simple, and yummy and turns out just like the ones at the Oak Table.  It can be dressed up sooooo easily. A pinch of nutmet, cinnamon.  Give a whirl!

DUTCH BABIES

1/4 c. butter
3 eggs
3/4 c. milk
3/4 c. flour

3 TO 4 QUART PAN SIZE
1/3 c. butter
4 eggs
1 c. milk
1 c. flour

4 TO 4 1/2 QUART PAN SIZE
1/2 c. butter
5 eggs
1 1/4 c. milk
1 1/4 c. flour

4 1/2 TO 5 QUART PAN SIZE
1/2 c. butter
6 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour

Place the butter in the pan and set in a 425 degree oven. While the butter melts, mix the batter quickly. Put eggs in blender or food processor and whirl for 1 minute. With motor running, add milk, then flour. Remove pan from oven and pour in batter. Bake until puffy and well browned (20 to 25 minutes).Dust the Dutch Baby with powdered sugar or nutmeg. It may be topped with fruit or syrup or pie filling. Each Dutch bakes in a unique shape and is spectacular when it first comes out of the oven.

I only had two 2 eggs, so I used

1 T butter (I could’ve gone with just 1/2 T)

2 eggs

1/2 c milk

1/2 c flour

THE BLENDER IS THE KEY!!!  I think the size of the skillet is important too.  I like a little thicker german pancake (like the ones served at the Oak Table).  So, I noticed that the batter was inbetween 1/4-1/2inch thick as it sat in the skillet. I hope you enjoy!
