With the help of some fabulous doctors, skilled nurses and a great spinal block, Allie Nicole Kyser joined our family on July 16th at 1:02AM, weighing in at 7 lb. 15 ounces, 20.5 inches long.

Ironically, and sadly, I went into labor the day before my C-section was scheduled. The hospital said to come on in, and the doctor on call could’ve done the section that afternoon (a whole day early) if he could get in contact with my doctor (who was scheduled to come back into the office that afternoon). They were pretty positive about the whole thing happening that the nurse prepped all the stuff for me. Sadly, they sent me home, telling me to come back if I was in active labor…that pretty much meant if I had to huff and puff through the contractions. That night, the moment I sat down to watch a movie in the theater, I started have stronger and more intense contractions, and things picked up really fast…30 mintues into the movie and I couldn’t concentrate and I asked for our money back…the hospital said to come on in. I believe the doctor on call couldn’t legally operate on me without my doc’s concent or me being in “active labor.” I don’t think I was meant for pain…because I only labored for 2.5 hours, and I thought I was going to die. We got into the hospital by 11:30ish and they prepped me in triage. The same doc was on-call still so they contacted him and scheduled the section for 1:00am. The nurses said to just relax through the contractions..ya right. Anyone that things I could relax through a contraction is out of their mind. Oh, and the poor nurse couldn’t get an IV in my tiny veins. She had to prick me twice before she gave up and called in another nurse to do it. I know if I weren’t mormon, I would’ve been cursing her name. I have to give some credit to the nurses. They really did work fast. I was in the OR room right before 1:00AM, Lj was sent to our room to get dressed (he had to wear the protective suit) and by the time he got back to me, I had already had my spinal block…which was heaven sent. And the fabulous anethesiologist that gave it to me was so awesome. Lj thought he heard she was head of the department or something. She was so good, so informative and knowledgeable, quick and the medicine was glorious! It worked within 30 seconds.
I’m not kidding: They had Allie out and me stitched back up by 1:20AM. I noticed that Allie stopped crying quite soon after they had delivered her and got her cleaned up. I think Sara cried a ton more.
Allie is just adorable and it is so cute to watch Sara with her new baby sister.

This is one of our favorite parks here in Seattle, St. Edwards Park. I didn’t get any pictures of the neat toys here, but this is Grandpa Lonnie and Grandma Mendy helping Sara do her favorite thing: Swing.
