I can’t believe it, but Sara is nearly 8 months old. I’m sure I’ll hit points along this road of her life where I will say it over and over. It’s still weird though. She is so big. 27 inches, 19 lbs. I’ve been trying to remember what she does differently now and what are things she used to do.
For instance, Sara used to burough her head in our armpits for some reason. She’d do it when she was trying to sleep.
She used to cough a lot to get our attention.
She used to sleep without moving around.
Sara is now moving on to new consonant sounds. She does “ka”, “da”, “ma”, “ba”, and she’s really exploring her vocal range.
Sleeping through the night? I wish. So, my excuses come out: about a month ago, she started going through a growth spurt, then she got sick and ever since then, she’s been eating every 3-4 hours or so. She goes right back to sleep, so it’s not so bad. It only hits me when I don’t go to bed until 3am, and she’s up at 7am.
Sara loves sounds and music. We’ve got this nursery rhyme cd and whenever she’s cranky, I turn it on, and she just sits there and wathces the cd player, or starts to play nicely by herself.
Sara mastered crawling around Father’s Day and pulled herself up on furniture for the first time, that same weekend. Ever since, her favorite thing to do is having help walk. It really took me by surprise because I thought she’d be content just crawling when she mastered it, beinb mobile and all.
Stranger anxiety isn’t so bad yet. She’ll especially go to people that will help her walk right now.
She is a pretty content baby. We can move her while she’s sleeping in and out of the car, and usually keep her asleep. She’s going to bed pretty easily and naps, especially if she’s nursed first and will stand and wait in the corner of the crib for you to come and get her when she’s awakened.
I love my family. Lj and I are moving and groovin’. Work goes on and my interest in creativity grows. I’ll explain more about that at another time! Must get some sleep while I can!
